We offer well-person checks with the nurse and are very keen to closely monitor illnesses such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease and blood pressure.
If you would like to give up smoking, our nurses are also able to offer support and advice.
To make an appointment with the practice nurse:
We have a very well equipped treatment room, and we are able to remove most “lumps and bumps”.
If you are concerned about a lump or mole, or feel you would benefit from a small operation, please discuss it with one of the doctors.
This service is provided to detect any problems with your child, or their development. Babies have their first check at six weeks.
Childhood immunisations will be given by the practice nurse.
Antenatal care is provided by the midwife and the doctors.
Postnatal checks are carried out at the same time as your baby’s first check.
Contraception is provided by all the doctors. We can prescribe the pill, mini-pill, and injections.
We also provide emergency “morning after” contraception.
Bloods are taken by our nursing team and sent to the local hospital for processing. All appointments for phlebotomy will be before 1.00 pm daily as samples are collected by the courier thereafter at 1.30 pm. This service will be affected by staff absence.
A limited amount of appointments for blood tests will be available Monday and Thursday mornings only for:
- Warfarin/INR
- Chemotherapy
- GP Urgent bloods
- Patient’s over 75yrs
You will need to request and collect your paperwork for all other blood tests. Blood tests can be booked online at www.swiftqueue.co.uk
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
Please complete a Travel Risk Assessment form (available from reception) and return it to our nurse prior to your travel appointment.
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible – at least 6 weeks before you travel – as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
- Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
